Intake timeline

September/October is the main intake. The Universitaly pre-enrolment window typically opens in February and closes by April, so plan your documents well before that.

Start 10 to 12 months early. Complete Universitaly pre-enrolment February–April. Legalise and translate all academic documents. Apply for the student visa at the Italian Embassy in Dhaka after pre-enrolment is confirmed. Apply for the DSU scholarship as soon as your Italian university enrolment is confirmed.

Work rights

Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. Students in Italy can work part time on a student visa without a separate work permit.

Post study options

After graduation, you can apply for a one-year stay-back permit to search for employment in Italy. If successful, this can convert to a work permit. The rules are updated annually, so confirm availability at the Italian Embassy before planning your stay.

Regional DSU scholarships can cover fees and offer living support for eligible students. Apply on time.

Planning note: Italian university deadlines, Universitaly windows, and DSU scholarship opening dates shift each year. Monitor universitaly.it and the Italian Embassy Dhaka site from January onwards. Legalise and translate all academic documents (apostille + sworn translation into Italian) before February — document preparation takes 4–8 weeks in Bangladesh.

FAQ

Italy student visa questions

Answers to common questions from Bangladeshi students.

Yes. Public universities often set tuition based on your family income, which keeps it low, and regional DSU scholarships can reduce costs further or cover them for eligible students while adding a living grant. This makes Italy one of the most affordable destinations in Europe, though you should still plan for living cost and apply for DSU on time.
