Intake timeline

February is the main intake. July is the second major intake. Some universities also have November intakes.

Start 8 to 12 months early. Apply to universities 4–6 months before your intake. Arrange OSHC before your student visa application. Write your Genuine Student statement carefully before applying. Visa processing for Australia can take 4–8 weeks.

Work rights

Up to 48 hours per fortnight (roughly 24 hours per week) during term time, and unlimited hours during official study breaks. The fortnight limit resets every two weeks from a fixed date.

Post study options

The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) lets you stay and work for 2 to 4 years depending on your qualification level and whether you studied in a regional area. It is the main bridge to permanent residency pathways including Skilled Independent (subclass 189) and employer-sponsored routes.

Many universities offer entry scholarships that reduce tuition for strong applicants.

FAQ

Australia student visa questions

Answers to common questions from Bangladeshi students.

It is the test that you are coming to Australia mainly to study. It replaced the older Genuine Temporary Entrant statement. You answer targeted questions and give evidence about your background, why your course fits, and your plans after study, so clear, honest, and specific answers matter far more than long ones.
